LUCA 831 reinterprets the concept of “Querencia”—a place of restoration and inner balance—within the dense urban fabric of Gangnam, establishing a new typology for high-end urban residences.
1. Context-Responsive Façade Composition
The restrained white exterior and rhythmically arranged arches create a simple yet highly recognizable presence amid the complexities of the city.
Through careful façade articulation, the design softens the vertical massing typical of high-rise structures and achieves a harmonious relationship with the surrounding skyline.
2. Arched Façade as a Structural and Aesthetic Motif
The arch serves as the project’s defining architectural language—balancing classical geometry with contemporary minimalism.
Beyond its visual identity, the motif provides:
A consistent architectural rhythm that stabilizes the overall massing,
Depth and shadow that enrich the building’s three-dimensional quality,
A functional filter that moderates privacy, openness, and views for residents.
3. Creating an Open Urban Interface at the Lower Levels
The ground level adopts a plaza-like public zone inspired by a digital gallery, minimizing the boundary between the building and the city.
This semi-open space encourages natural pedestrian flow and supports diverse urban activities, allowing the development to serve not only its occupants but the broader neighborhood.
4. Vertical Retreat Through Resort-Like Upper Amenities
The uppermost levels house a sky observatory, indoor pool, rooftop deck, and other resort-style amenities.
By utilizing the advantages of high-rise elevation—panoramic views, wind, light, and sky—the design provides a vertical sanctuary that contrasts with the intensity of the surrounding urban environment.
5. Lifestyle-Focused Program Mix
Community lounges, multi-purpose hobby rooms, fitness facilities, and other shared amenities reflect the lifestyle patterns of the emerging young-rich demographic.
The project supports an integrated living experience where daily life, rest, leisure, and wellness coexist within a single architectural framework.
