Art has the power to bring people together. It inspires, instructs, and enriches communities. Chungnam Art Museum is not a traditional art museum, it is a space for the whole comunity that grows and changes over time. It promotes the coexistence of art and the public as a place of inspiration to contribute to the arts and the community. The ‘Inner Courtyard’, that has naturally appeared when a simple mass with a neutral character was separated by the element of circulation, and the ‘Cultural Center Street’ that extends from the inner courtyard and organically connects the outside and the inside, these two 'Big Details' provide space for interaction and serve as a wayfinding that leads visitors approaching from various routes to a continuous experience of architectural space and art. The continuity of the "Cultural Center Street" that blends art, culture, and convenience facilities without boundaries strengthens functions for the public, while at the same time creating a balance by connecting landscaping, parks, and mountains on the back. The "Inner Courtyard" derived from the traditional element "Madang" combines major circulations while the platforms at different levels in the building extend to the inner courtyard, providing a rich spatial experience. In addition, a strategy to strengthen the relationship between the art museum and visitors was sought through the "Digital Master Plan," which expands digital and physical experiences and creates two-way experiences. The exhibition space has increased its usability as a multi-use space that provides a black box solution for digital exhibitions and direction using natural light in accordance with changing exhibition trends. Through passive design, it proposed a high-performance cladding structure that can optimize the layout and space planning of the building and minimize the energy load of the building, and aimed to become a "Zero Energy Art Museum" by applying PV panels to the roof of the exhibition room.
